Exedra Max + Michelin Commander 2 + GO PRO2

I know I paid to much but I had no choice as it was I had to ride 6km with a front tyre that barely cleared the front guard with tennis ball size bubbles in the tyre.
Seem to remember you telling me that you paid somwhere round the $280 prior to working at Joes,... have they had a price drop eh?

I could have been wrong about the $280. I recall when you asked that I couldn't recall exactly but thought that might have been about the price. Can't really remember - although I did post it on here at the time I bought mine if anyone can find it. That aside, prices have come down a little with the strong Aussie dollar; just today a $275 Pirelli was $239 so $40 drop on an Avon wouldn't surprise me.

You're gonna love it Mittzy.

Well I got rid of the Bridgestone Exedra on the front day before yesterday and went back to an Avon Cobra. The BS seemed OK but really didn't wear all that well - plus I didn't much like the look of it. Yesterday it bucketed down and it's not my favourite time to be on a brand new tyre but I have to say the Avon reminded me why I like it so much. Great pairing with the Exedra Max on the back I reckon.

Worn out or pzzed off mate ? I think the cobra handles better all round but I have to put up with the BS it still looks new :(

How many Ks on it ?

Dennis, to be fair, I got reasonable mileage out of it and could have kept it on for another 1,000 or so kms. However, it annoyed me that the tread was so shallow from new just where you need it the most - about an inch each side of centre. This had worn quite quickly although the rest of the tread still looked good. If I was being real fussy it was ready to replace almost as soon as it was fitted. Very odd design, especially as the Max on the rear has the deepest tread where you need it.

Got close to 9,000km out of it but wanted to flick it ages ago. Handling wasn't too bad, especially in the wet but I just didn't like it overall and much prefer the Avon, which I reckon I'll stick with now. If Michelin comes out with one in the right size I'll give that a go. I go through at least 2 or 3 a year so happy enough to try anything at least once.

I agree, I still look at mine and wonder how the hell the shoulder tread pattern works and my first impression at new was, with the shallow tread, it already looked part worn..
I find myself always waiting for it to slip when cornering but so far dry or wet it has performed well, hate the tracking on road surface damage and joints tho' at least the Cobra would break free quickly, wonder about about Nylon cords and W.A. road surface heat effects too..... whats a worry wart? :D

I have the same view on the Mitch, not happy with the smaller diameter..

I guess the BS exedra front tyre is a bit of a disapointment compared to the excellent rear Max :(

Well they do make a exedra max for the front just not for our beasts . I'm not keen on using the smaller diameter Mich . Not to be confused with Mitch either sure it handles good but I think it would look **** gay in that front fender.

LOL  just name dropping Mitch...Gwd hope Richard does'nt pick it .. Michelin OK ;)

Not just no but OH HELL NO!

I just went to the smaller Excedra 140/80/17 front tire and immediately noticed a huge improvement in handling in the curves. BUT, I also noticed a HUGE problem with a scary as hell high speed wobble at above 85mph. I wasn't expecting it at all. Went WOT passing a truck as usual to above a ton. Tank slap city. Came REAL close to losing it. The thing different was the change in tire size. The bike has always been rock solid at whatever speed you had the juevos to ride it. Either I did something wrong or the tire is a death sentence. Any theories before I take it off? Anyone else experienced any issues at above 140kph with the smaller diameter tire?

Anyway, I am pretty certain I will have a BS Excedra Max up to whomever raises their hand first. Lesson well learned. Just be aware of what happened to me.

Don't understand the relevance to the issue but ....the rear didn't need changing and the front had cord showing.
