Engine Management Malfuction light

I have a couple of options for reading the codes.

1st: A low cost conventional scanner that will allow you to read the code and then clear it.

2nd: A bluetooth reader that synchs up to my android phone. I use an app called Torque to read and reset codes plus a lot of other functions. Here is the reader:

3rd: TuneECU. This is the most comprehensive option. If you already have a laptop computer, it is also the cheapest.

Don't freak out. Just get the right tools and get informed. I started at about the same level as you but now, with the help of the great people on this forum, feel confident to take care of most of the issues encountered.

You have no idea how many times that I thought of that today. I really did. Totally stupid crap.

First, I had the toilet completely in and went to install the little plastic caps on the floor bolts and I snapped the **** bolt below the nut line. Of course, that meant turn the water supply valve off, disconnect and pull the whole **** thing off again.

Finally got everything done and turned the water supply valve on and the f***ng valve starts to leak. 17 year old valve so what should I expect. Back to Lowes for the new valve.
 
I can only testify to the 08 R3T...If I start it up and it does not stay running and dies..and I re-start before the computer recycles thru all the circuits, then the engine light comes on and will stay on for 10 minutes plus..give or take! Now I make sure it cycles thru before hitting the start button...and if I kill it at a light I again take the 8-10 seconds for it to clear.According to my owners manual,If there is something wrong,the computer corrects itself and puts it in a limp mode home..never has that happened to me.My rocket was hard to start this year and took 4-5 starts till it ran ok...I am now using the StarTron fuel additive.Hope it all works out ok for you!This was my 2 cents of experience with management light!
