It will be a great advancement in battery technology if they can make one last with all the vibration

I hope they include bits falling off it with its make believe vibration just to make the new age bikers feel "real"...sad but i think this may be a window into the future across the board fellas so enjoy burning million year old cockels and mussels while theres still some left:laugh:

Its gonna be interesting to see how they get it to leave an oil puddle on your garage floor--- Coke can full of 20W30 with a hole in it ?. to bring it into the 21st century a sensor that triggers an email to to remind you to refill when it gets low might be stock but an extra $250 (USD) for a chromed Coke can--- with an eagle on it---Ride to live.

And no leaking cam cover gaskets, jammed up/gear popping transmissions, ignition issues...... :whitstling: :D

I will give up motorcycles if I can't continue to use my petrol motorcycles
Thankfully I think I will have become too old to care by the time it is a problem.

iirc - All new passenger vehicles sold after 2040 in the EU will have to be Electric. It is still not clear if this means "motorcycles" too. This decision is political and taken.

imo - the key factor regarding the transition will be commercial. As more folk move from combustion - the sales of fuel will drop.
So prices will rise and more importantly "outlets" will reduce as demand will so do.
Eventually a time will come where finding a petrol station will become more of a pain than it is worth.

The issue is that a HUGE majority of "private" vehicle owners basically do small journeys. For them electric seems viable. But there is (imo) a misconception that all these users have a place to park and charge. Anybody who does long trips simply will be stuffed if forced to use electric with todays technology. There are so many reasons that it would take a new forum.

Hydrocarbon fuel is universal and shapeless.

I am unlikely to be around in 2040 so I suppose I shouldn't care either but strangely i do.

I like the different personalities of the various engine types and configurations - this is what I think will be lacking with silence, linear torque and no gearbox

Me too. The new electric bikes at the moment have no attraction for me. Having rode motorcycles for over 40 years I am set in my ways and I know what I want. (the smell of the engine, the exhaust note and vibes)

I think the reduced fuel demand will be offset by the addition of recharge outlets at the majority of servos...and if there's a roughly 15 minute charge time we will need 3 times the number of 'filling stations' given the current (pun intended ) 5 minute average refueling time.

I'm curious to see how countries like Oz can produce enough electricity to reliability charge 30 million vehicles on an upto daily basis. We don't do nuclear and it doesn't make a lot of sense to use fossil fuels to make electricity so we can stop using fossil fuels

I suppose we'll still get a choice of seating position - cruiser vs sports etc
