I've had good results with Dyna Beads in my last two sets of Dunlops on my '09 Harley Ultra. I need to install a new Avon Cobra I've ordered to replaced the worn out Metzler on the front of the Rocket I bought a week ago or so. Any reason I should not use Dyna Beads on this tire? The rear tire is like new, a Bridgestone Exedra Max. It has several weight squares on it's rim. I've never run beads in one tire and weights on another at the same time. I'm guessing this isn't a problem but thought I should ask those far more experienced than I with Rockets.

Now that is a very gracious offer. I'll go to the thread for RRA and get the details. I haven't been keeping up, so I don't know where and when. I wasn't thinking about trailering, might be able to bring the TBird that way. I never let anyone ride my bike so I am especially appreciative of your offer.

I’ve used Dyna Beads on several front/back tires on my Rocket & America with no complaints. Even reused them when changing rims once. The local shop that swaps out my tires uses them on all the bike tires they service without ever receiving any complaints. When I was travelling cross Canada last summer and swapped out the rear, I asked for beads but they didn’t sell them. They used balancer & stick on weights (which costs more than beads). One of the weights was thrown within a few hundred kilometres which ticked me off.

Sticking with beads for now.

Well, despite my faith in Dyna Beads and positive experience with them on my Honda Valkyrie and Harley Ultra, it is somewhat ironic that I could not get the beads inside my new Avon Cobra. The right angle air stem on the front Rocket wheel defied every attempt to insert the beads. Trying to force the rubber tube on the application bottle between the deflated tire wall and wheel failed. Vibrating the air stem per suggestions in this thread did not work either. So, decided to balance the old fashioned way with the wheel installed and spinning by hand to determine the heavy side. Could not find a heavy side. Spun the wheel couple dozen times and ended up with masking tape markers every couple inches around the entire circumference of the tire/wheel. Then I took the Rocket up to 115-120 mph with no balance issues that I could detect.. Hope it stays that way.....otherwise I'll be back to wheel weights, **** it.

I cut a hole in the tire, retrieve the beads and reuse them. Mount the tire then break the bead loose on one side, in one spot, pour the beads in. I was pissed that so called professionals could not figure out how to get the beads in without them getting in the bearings and stuck between the wheel and bead of the tire. The balance on a tire change as it wears. Beads are self adjusting even if you wear the tread down to the cords.
