Daymaker Type Headlights (Chinese Copies)

Got mine installed today, the $89 ones. Incredibly easy installation, 4 wire cuts, 4 wire crimps, slip on connectors bolt up and done, no more than 15 minutes. Lights have fantastic cutoff vertically, high beams form a bright projected spot a bit above the vertical cutoff and centered where all 4 bright lights land.

Bright as fawk, will get pictures after it gets dark. Have them setup with orange halos as running lights, the orange halos are very very visible and definitely catch your eye more than the stock lights did, meaning hopefully cagers see me more readily.

Overall I'd say 8/10 rating overall, 1 point off for not wiring all the halo wires internally and providing a small dip switch on the back to change the halo functionality instead of 3 mystery wires. Other point comes off for the lack of instructions about the halo wires.

<pics to follow>
Can't get night pics, camera is unable to capture a good image looking at the lights even from the side. Will have to get some when its light outside.

Can you please tell me what to do with the wires for the halo?

@Claviger bought the same ones as me and I gave a rundown on fitting which I have re-posted below:
From my instructions it should be possible to work out which wires to connect get either white or amber halos fulltime by ruling out the other options I detail.
It is not too hard. just read and then work out after deciding whether you want a permanent white or amber halo.

Ordered a set of the ones you linked @Ishrub . Thanks for the link and shipping tip :p
The LED units I posted above (#55) do not fit the inner lamp support / positioning metal ring tabs in the stock lamp but appear to fit in the shell firmly without it anyway. If they do move around at all once the outer ring is secured it should be simple to tape around the sealed unit shimming them up to make a firmer fit inside the case (not required after finishing fitting). I have tried powering them up with and w/o the supplied canbus unit and it does'nt seem to make a difference and Hi/Lo works fine as per video link.

The angel eye halo / orange amber ring around the lens has 3 functions as per the video:
  1. red wire connected to parking light globe power wire (yellow) starts dim then goes bright then pulsates and strobes with sections coming on and off, so red could be attached to low beam power source before the H4 plug as a strobing running light which I doubt is legal in Oz;
  2. with red and brown wire connected to yellow power source it becomes a bright parking light, so again if red and brown connected to low beam power it would be an extra running light with the low beam.
  3. with red and green wire attached to yellow power source it becomes a solid orange/amber halo ring so I presume the green could be connected to L or R blinker wires and red could be attached to low beam power source before the H4 plug (not the parking yellow wire) to make angel halo ring flash amber as an extra blinker but I doubt that is legal in Oz.

All the halo ring functions require the H4 plug to be connected for earth so the bright light (brown & red) or just the strobe pulse (red only) could be set up to run off the parking light power source (yellow) which is only key activated so strobe may be legal as a parking light only and theoretically should use less power than full bright light as a front parker.

I think I will just wire my red and brown to the yellow parking light power source and use as a parking light only.

The long central lamp is fitted horizontal with 2 circular projector lenses top and bottom. Will make sure I have them right way up and lamp cut-off angles correct tonight after dark. Without the positioning tabbed metal ring fitted just loosen outer ring and turn w/o the need to dismantle and they seem very firmly locked in place once the outer ring is tightened.

  1. if red and brown connected to Low beam power source it would be an extra white halo running light with the Low beam which stays on with Hi beam.
  2. with red and green wire attached to low beam power source it becomes a solid orange/amber halo ring with the Low beam which stays on with Hi beam.
  3. To determine which is High and Low beam power source - the one which illuminates the halo ring as in 1 +2 with the Hi/Low switch in either position is the low beam power source. If you connect them to the High beam power source the halo rings will only work when the Hi beam switch is engaged.
Remember Yellow is the parking light only power source when the parking light is turned on with the ignition key.

Thank you! Very helpful. I guess the stock little light you just hide inside?

IM using the LED bulb replacements and they work great ver very bright and effective

Yeah, remove bulb and tape up terminal contact areas to prevent a short, it takes up less space w/o the bulb and no risk of crushing it when trying to stuff everything back in. I tapped into the yellow power wire an inch or so from the bulb terminals for the white halo parking light only option.

The link below still shows them and the video and images are great. I've found some more suppliers on AliExpress, Amazon and various online websites. The ones I and @Claviger got are AutoID brand but the others look identical just check the specs against the details posted below.

Sometimes the trick to get free shipping for two is to buy one at a time and select ************** or mainland China International shipping - I went HK. When I bought mine as soon as you update to two in same order it defaulted to $50+ International Global shipping!

Got the same Chinese bulbs but set mine up as they were intended?? Wired the amber bulb wires to the turn signal hot wires (each side to the respective turn signal). Wired the white halo ring wires to the parking light bulb wire. Wired the low/high/ground as expected but added an on/off switch to the low beam. Now I have high/low beam lights with integrated turn signal (amber halo) around the light for night driving. I have daytime running lights (white halo) without low/high beam for daytime driving (daytime running lights turn off automatically when the turn signals are activated and come back on when signal lights are turned off), and have white halo for parking lights. Pretty cool, just like the newer cars you see on the road! Another plus of this setup is the significant load reduction on the ignition switch when running during night and even more during the daytime. Also, if you have a table sander you can easily sand out the inside of the OEM retention metal ring to match the bulbs and fit perfectly into the housing (just like the original bulbs).

Are you guys still liking these? Is it truly a noticeable difference over stock?

How’s the fitment? Any issues? Any complaints overall?

Hi Germ79, read back through the complete thread, loads of info that's relevant to your questions. I've bought a couple of really cheap ones - £60.00 - from Malaysia and they are the Canine Genitalia. Brilliant light and easy to install.
