I actually don't know the outcome of the original David and Goliath 'story' .. fortunate not to have been brainwashed by religious mumbo-jumbo as a child. Seriously doubt the original be any more believable that Doug and Dinsdale though ... so go with them I reckon.
 
I would go with "a rocket and its grandpa"
 

Don't go giving those names away, mate. Reckon they're perfect for your two! Doug of course would be the Rocket - there's something very Dinsdale about a black Speed Triple.
