Heavy rain here today......and with some free time on my hands, i've been thinking about an exhaust swap-out of some kind.
Reasoning:
- To save some weight.
- Get a beefier sound (but not too loud)
- Give me a good reason to get the bike on Richard Alban's rolling road and get the bike running and breathing in an optimal way.
- I'm not looking for ultimate HP increase but a bit more would be welcome.
- VERY IMPORTANT ____I don't want to compromise the bottom end grunt or any of the mid-range.
The problem for me with all of the aftermarket systems that i've seen so far is that the styling becomes compromised.
Perhaps the best looking of the bunch is the swoopy Zard system but so far I haven't seen one for real and they are a bit pricy.....So interested, but not yet convinced on that one.
Then there's the Patriot 3 into 3 from Dave Platt, which i've known about for a little while but not seen in the flesh either. I wasn't sold on the aesthetics when I first saw the videos and photos of it, but I got thinking about that system again today and I decided to do a bit of doodling in Photoshop just to see if I could improve the appearance with a trim cover of some sorts. (see below)
Does anyone out there have anything good (or bad) to report with their Dave Platt 'Patriot' system?
Any info or guidance will be very much appreciated.
I live less than an hour away from Dave Platt's listed address, so I suppose I should make a visit, but ideally i'd like to hear what you have to say first.
Anyway, here's a before and after doodle of a trim cover:
In this doodle i've attempted to extend the slash-cut of the end cans to try to get a bit more of a dynamic aesthetic:
