Could you please point me in the direction of the "fact that there have been plenty of catastrophic tire separation issues" Do the separations occur when the tire deflate or spontaneously? Can you be more specific about what this separation is? Does the tire just jump the edge of the rim? I'm not trying to argue with you, just trying to become informed and learn from your experience and expertise. If this is in fact true I might reconsider. To me, the cost or inconvenience of the installation is not an issue. It's about a 100$ difference and 5000 miles of service between tires types. I don't ride that much any way or do so exceeding anything but the speed limit by not much.
