V8 CHOPPER, BOSS HOSS, 2015 ROCKET 3 TOURING
I purchased the Australian McCruise Control shortly after I bought my bike but its been sitting on a shelf in the garage ever since. I just left Las Vegas for two weeks in the Philippines so I dropped the bike and the cruise unit at Freedom Cycle in Las Vegas to have it installed while I'm gone. My only concern is that Triumph will come out with a new Rocket 3 for 2016 and it will be a six speed and have cruise control already on it. In my opinion those two upgrades would make this the best touring bike made for the buck without a doubt. Is there anyone else who has the same unit and is there anything negative about it other than the price?

Several of us have that unit, and for me -- if you can afford it (value is in the eye of the beholder) -- that is a big contributor to distance cruising. There is a fair amount of labor to install them -- just tedious, though straightforward -- so having someone else do it is going render that unit a pretty penny by the time you're done. I've installed two of them myself, and love both the unit and the customer service behind it. You will be pleased.

I'm happy to see that you don't have anything negative to say about the cruise control itself and you have one. I will definitely have a pretty penny in this with labor and everything but if I like it I soon forget the sting of the original cost. I still think TRIUMPH will come out with cruise control and six speeds and maybe even a tach on the touring model soon if they are going to keep this model in their line up. Even with all those upgrades the price of the bike will probably be the same or less than I have in just the cruise control. I also spent a lot on seats before I found the one that really suits me. Now I have a bunch of extra seats. The upside is that after wrapping the headers and a set of D&D pipes and a new tune and a nice seat with a backrest the bike is becoming one of my favorite bikes, the cruise control if it works good will be the icing on the cake.

I have installed McCruise on four Rockets. Three R111T's and one R111 Roadster and everyone has worked fantastic. The early models had little more lag than the later ones but all have worked great and I would guess I have more than 60 to 70 K miles with them. The best part is if you want to install it yourself the instructions are the best I have ever seen. Pictures notes and everything to watch out for as you go along. I would say however don't try it if you are not mechanically inclined as it takes a good understanding of what you are doing to get it done.
If you try make sure to follow the directions including oiling the cables and the routing of the throttle cables it is very important.

Trapper, I am still in the Philippines for a few more days and then fly back to the states. I left my bike at the Triumph dealer in Las Vegas to have the McCruise installed while I was gone. Hopefully its done and with no problems when I get it back next week.

I picked up my bike today from FREEDOM CYCLE here in Las Vegas with the new McCruise cruise control installed. It works perfectly and the installation looks like it was done at the factory when it was manufactured. All in all its quite an expensive upgrade but at least its well designed and a quality product. It works just like a modern car cruise control and is as good as it gets in the world of cruise controls. While I was there I was told or shown about many of the new models Triumph has for 2016. They have some great new models but I was told the Rocket is unchanged, at least its still being made. This is from a long time employee but of course its nothing official.

What does that come out to US?

I think I paid about $800 including shipping to Las Vegas for the unit. The Triumph dealer here in Vegas charged 8 hours for the install. It had great directions with pictures in a step by step manner so some should be able to install it themselves. It still would be a time consuming project even with great instructions. I have only had the friction type cruise controls or a wrist rocket in the past. They work pretty good but they can't be compared to an electronic cruise control. Lots of money for a luxury gadget but its as nice as the cruise in a new car.

Dave, would you add a photo of the final install for us? I have wanted to add this unit to my bike for awhile, just waiting to win the lottery I guess.
