Just purchased a Corbin Dual Tour for my 05 Rocket. Only thing I didn't like was the Corbin seat mount, was a 1/4" on one side and a 1/2" on the other side from lining up. After reading others posts, here and elsewear, I decided to attach the factory seat post to the Corbin seat.
1. Drilled out rivets and removed seat post/catch from factory seat.
2. Inserted seat post into latch on bike in correct position. Used twine wrapped around post to hold in position and space it up in up direction. (see photo 2)
3. Apply a soft 1/4" thick layer of plumbers putty (see photo 1) to flat area on Corbin seat. Clean this area well first so putty will stick.
4. Place seat in position on bike, being careful to put it down as straight as possible. Press firmly in middle of drivers seat.
4. Lift seat up and turn over. If everything goes well, there will be impression in putty to show position of seat post. (see photo 3)
5. Remove post from latch on bike and place it in position on putty. Use as guide to drill 2 holes needed. Be careful not to drill any deeper than just enough to go through seat base.
6. Check thickness of putty used for marking seat post. It can indicate how thick a spacer you might need between seat post and seat.
7. Attach seat post to seat. I used pan head phillips sheet metal screws #12 x 1/2", and one 1/4" flat washer each screw to space post away from seat. (see photos 4,5, and 1)
8. Remove Corbin mounts from seat and enjoy! (see photo 6)
