Considering a Rocket vs an Indian

Hello Jamie and welcome from Virginia. Have you made that decision yet?

Thanks for the welcome. I took a test ride toddy on a 2012 Roadster with 6600 miles. Awesome power, brakes and good handling for such a big bike. I loved how powerful but smooth the bike is. HOWEVER the ergonomic fit was very bad for me.

For the record I am 5-10 and 190.

I found myself uncomfortable and hunt huntched over. The bars would need to be raised at a minimum.

I really want to like this bike but I am still unsure. I will want to be comfortable a lot more than I will want to roast tires. The Indian may have taken the lead in the competition.

THATS interesting the bars are adjustable and Im about your size and it fits me fine but sounds like the Indian is the one for you its a sofa and a retro with 1950 styling that has its own look and since the extra power isnt important it might be the bike for you.

My Classic came with Rivco risers. It did not have them I would have probably made the change. Bars come up and back about 2 inches. Does it have a windshield? Do usually ride with a windshield. I am surprised of how many folks ride in free air. Was also lucky to buy a bike with a back rest. It helps me stay in position when I throttle the bike. Added a crash bars in case I drop her and a set of hwy pegs to be able to stretch and move around. Chopped the shifter's heel peg. Added foam to the hand grips to take off the last bit of vibrations and a seat cushion to raise me a little. New front tire. Changed the front beams for LED chineeze cheapoes. The JW speakers and Truck Lites are too expensive. I avoid driving at night. I'm 5 11 240, 62 y/o.:coffee:

Now i'm very happy. It fits very well. Sooo happy I'm putting the Valkyrie up for sale. Next will be Progressive rear shocks.

The tank is fuuul and It's warm outside.... Let's Ride

I think you need to ride an R3T then. I only have 42,000 miles on my 2014, but I think it is one of the most comfortable bikes I've had out of 27 others. 10-12 hours in the saddle are easy for me at 5' 9" and 230 pounds. You can see I added a BeadRider on the seat, but that is about it. It still has arm stretching power when needed and it absolutely loves the highways. I ride two-up when I can and it has enough room for both of us to take a long weekend on the road and still carry everything we need. Here is a picture from my trip to Denver to pick up my 3 youngest sons in route to Sturgis...

I am going to try the touring. The dealership has a 2011 touring BUT unfortunately it was not road ready at the time. They had to work on the brakes and are waiting on parts. Probably after the holidays.

You should also test ride a Classic model to see if the boards and pull back bars agree with you.

I'm 6'5 350 and ride a Roadster. Your body actually kinda gets used to the position.

What really helps is a set Rivco hi way pegs mounted to the foot peg rail. I'm sure hi way pegs mounted to crash bars would work as well, but I don't have crash bars.

Another option if you can afford it and get ahold of the parts... some have removed the Roadster peg rails, linkages and brake lines and put the corresponding parts from a Classic on. @1olbull is the first one that comes to mind.
