2006 R3 standard.
I haven't been able to find a start up sequence for my 2006 R3. She turns over strong but won't fire off. I will try two or three starts, shut the ignition off and wait about three minutes and try again and have some success. When I set her in the sunshine for a bit she will start easier. This is all without touching the throttle. If I squeeze the throttle she binds up and will drain the battery. Any suggestions.

Your in southern California it doesn't get cold there
By start up sequence your not asking for basic, ie, kill switch set to run, bike in neutral with clutch engaged or bike in gear with side stand up and clutch engaged are you?

Are the tach and speedometer needles sweeping with ignition key to run? Please consider install of the Eastern Beaver HD headlight bypass harness, I did on my 05. Plenty of post here on why.

Well either so Ca sunshine, ie heat is a factor or just coincidence. So, heat expands metal, look for ground strap, maybe lose fuse, remove kill switch cover looking for dirt...ever replaced fuel filter? Checked fuel level, sampled fuel looking for water...have you tested battery?

Does the bike not run at all? Once it does, have you performed ten minute tune? If it runs, is performance as you remember it? Once warmed up does it start easily? Hope any of this helps, stumped as well if your response is new charged battery, recent fuel filter, clean fuel, tight connections on cables, fuses good. Hope it is simple fix.

Wow ok sorry . I'll ask a couple questions. What map number is in it. When was the last time you run a full ISCV reset and then reset the adaptives. And last but not least has anyone worked on it as to maybe change valve shims. Just reaching here as if it has had mile and you had the dealer Technician run the valves? Sorry for my ruff post I remember souther czlifornia in the winter. First time ever I didn't need a coat. Coming from siberia/chicago it seemed quite warm there. The only other excuse I cam muster is my attitude lately has been about as usefull as a c.u.n.t. full of cold water. So I apologize!!!

Even full of cold water, it's better than none at all!

New lead acid battery kept on a tender. Eastern Beaver upgrade preformed. Fuel filter less then two years old. Stock tune, mufflers, and air filters. The machine runs well once I get it started. The grounding check has merri. I'll try that tomorrow.

I will be checking the grounds
