checking oil, warm or cold?

Never had to add any, went 8000 miles once, too. With a capacity similar to a 3/4 ton truck, I don't think the fill level is that critical.

Now that you've mentioned it, I've never had to add any oil to mine also. Has anyone ever added oil to their Rockets??

Oh, I just check after running the engine for a minute. Not really any difference in level on sidestand or upright.

Your spot on, my friend who worked for Triumph as their technical advisor for 15 years, and also who i get all my bikes from told me the same run for a min leave for a min then check oil whilst on the side stand.Before someone says thats not what the book says thats how he told me it should be done and i take his knowledge above the books that sometimes are wrong in their advice as we all know,nothing he does not know about Rockets so side stand dipping is good
