Cheap power, exhaust upgrade

Sorry about sidetracking the thread, but what is your handlebar/riser setup? Marky likey....

Aftermarket bars for a Yamaha! They have a 100 mm, (4 inch) spacing & bolt on where the risers bolted on. Did require some modding to make room for the front brake caliper. 1.25 inch bars 6 inch rise, 7 inch pullback. Baron brand P.N. 7301-00. Got mine on Ebay. item # 191291592188 Hope this helps!

Thanks! Stock cables?

well, after a lot of trial and error, bracket has been made

Hides pretty well too I must say.

Of course this did open up a whole new can of worms for me that I've been fighting the last few weeks...

So failure number 1....
I went out for a test ride.... This thing is LOUD!!!
So I removed 2 of the rear discs and put it back together. The screws of a supertrapp muffler are very long, so I unknowingly ran them in with a drill... Big mistake. I crushed the discs. Now they won't flow hardly anything.
So I ordered some new ones. Behold the difference!

While this helped, it was still too loud for me. So I removed the core to find a straight through piece of 2 inch pipe. No wonder it was soo loud! I took matters into my own hand and fired up the plasma cutter.
Made some cuts and with a hammer and a chisel I made some louvers.

I called everyone, but no one had stainless steel wool in stock or muffler rated fiberglass in stock. So being in a hurry to try it out I used what I had. Some regular steel wool and some home insulation.

It actually worked rather well, but droned on the highway more than I would like. I put in about 100 miles and called it a day.

New insulation finally arrived in the mail. (the right kind)

So I took apart my muffler today. Found this

So much for using the cheap stuff!

I did re wrap the core today and re-install it into the muffler.

Sounded much better, but I won't know for sure till I can get a test ride in. Stupid weather....
No luck on the stainless wool yet. Not even sure if I need it or not.

On a side note, I did install a ramair filter, and I uploaded a tune for tune ecu that I found in the library. It runs great, but it sounds like it is too lean around town below 25mph.
I have yet to test it since re-packing the muffler today.

OUCH!!! Ya know how to hurt a fellow, Amigo!
My can wound up in the river after a sharp righty at Montrose!
You DO INDEED have a nice rack, Lonnie, but I thought this was out little secret????
