Can a Triumph Rocket beat.........

Having ridden both bikes extensively, it's all on the rider. I think the rocket is easier to launch but the FJR has longer gears. Once moving, the FJR checks out on the Rocket III.

I don't intend to be snooty about it; but, shave 116 dry weight pound from a standard Rocket III then put them through the paces. The Rocket will likely leave the touring wannabee FJR at the starting line. You've got lemons and cherries mixed up. The Rocket III being the cherry. The FJR 1300, looking from my point of view, is a sport bike not a cruiser and attaching a touring label on that profile bike is a misnomer.

It's not a sport bike. It's a sporty bike. Sport bikes, to me, have clip on handle bars, aggressive seating positions, and sacrifice everything for the sake of performance in both handling and power.
Motorcycles comes in more than two styles (Sportbikes and Cruisers by your stated point of view)
Touring is what you do with whatever you happen to be riding.
I'd wager there are more bikes styled similar to the FJR that are used for touring than there are cruisers.
I love riding ALL bikes but the neutral seating position of bikes like the FJR lend themselves well for extended rides.
All of this is moot as it's entirely up to the rider as to what they prefer.

FJR is still faster once moving. :p

I smoke my buddies FJR all the time off the line but he is not as heavy handed as I am so I think its more rider then bike.... if you can launch a 4cyl sport bike correctly they are **** quick,
