CA Evap Canister Removal

Anyone have any experience on removing the CA Evap Canister on a R3T. I had planned to wire a Stebel horn under the left side cover only to find a CA Evap Canister on a Mass. bike. Go figure.

Have it on my 2011 bike in bought in NH.. My 2009 that I bought from the same dealership didn't have it...

Wonder if we can get rid of it as their is no emission testing in Maine.

I think it is the gas tank overflow/vent tubes that go into it. Nothing really emission-wise that would be tested. I would just trace the lines up and either buy new complete lengths at the auto parts store or put get some fittings to extend them to where they come out of the bottom of the bike. If the R3T is like my Classic there are two vents that they connect to on the bottom of the gas tank. The service manual should show you where they are routed.

Stebel Horn Install

I pulled the CA Evap Cannister today and plugged the two throttle body hoses into themselves using a plasitc 1/4" to 1/4" pvc connector. Then I extended the vapor hose from the fuel tank by attaching a length of hose to the "roll-over" valve that connects with the vapor hose from the tank. Once I removed the cannister I had plenty of room to wire a Stebel air horn using the Eastern Beaver single horn relay kit. The horn is still freakin loud even under the plastic trim cover. Every bike should come with one installed. I initially tried to install the horn under the front fork triple tree but did not like how it looked. The left side panel install seems to be the way to go. While I was at it I also hooked up the Eastern Beaver H4 headlight relay kit. Very easy install and I noticed a much brighter headlight. This kit is also less of a drain on your battery and will help prevent ingniton switch overloads (so I'm told).
