blown headgasket

Head gaskets

Are the head gasket issues in common with any types of mods done to the bikes? If I add a, say a GI-pro to my bike and happen to end up with a blown head-gasket in the next 6 months, with the increased torque in 1-3 gears and speed limiter bypass would that void my warranty? I am just wondering if Triumph could blame tweaking and mods on this? I am also wondering how big a problem this is?

My bike is an '08 and is completely stock. Thus, it was covered by warranty. I would discuss how any mods you plan will affect the warranty with either your dealer or Triumph. I don't think I'd take anything I read on the internet as the gospel.

it has happen to me twice now
xhombre dont think there is really a problem but has happen on my 06 classic and now my 08r3t both was stock no mods

I don't have much respect for my dealer but they said stuff that plugs in and bolts on won't have any affect on the validity of the warranty other than charging extra labor for having to work around it. They look at stuff like PCIII's, aftermarket lights and body kits as crap Triumph doesn't pay to r&r in the flat rate manual.

Well, at the very least, that has to be frustrating.

I had a very minute head gasket leak on my last VTX. It was so minor and the cost of just getting to it was so exorbitant, that I just lived with it. It really didn't affect the motor's performance, perceptively, at all.

Rainman try using unleaded gas in the tank instead of that shine.... might solve your problems sorry we can't make it to tellico this weekend looks like a good time..

just got back with my rocket they had it ready wednesday but couldn't get it till today
head gasket fix 10000 mile maintenance done cost $378.13 and yes steve before u say anything it was raining today when i got it rode like a charm and of course it also got wash

Took the 08 Rock in for the 10K, had an oil leak just like described; penny-sized drip on the floor. Just got a call and ****, its the head gasket! And they just did the tranny upgrade kit last March.

sorry to hear that hope you get yours back as quick as i got mine just a little over a week and they had to order the parts

Sounds like this is happening to more '08 models than with other years. Has anyone tried to hone in on a cluster of VIN #s to see if this could legitimately be made Triumph's responsibility to repair/
