Blacked out front of Roadster

If it peels off it probably will, Since seeing the R3R's with the blacked out grill's I want to do it to my bike. Not being a body man I hesitate to do anything myself. I did read on this forum a R3 owner sanded the hell out of his grill before painting and he didn't mention peeling. Your bike looks great btw,

I painted my grill (and the 2 smaller ones behind the rad). No sanding needed just a good clean and the right sort of paint (I used Rustoleum satin black) with several light coats. Have touched it up twice in 3 years to cover up what were almost unnoticeable stone chips but it holds up really well.

Did you prep the surface first, make sure no oil or grease on it?
I cleaned and de greased with petrol first then applied several coats.as I understand it that's all that was required.the edges peeled and when tightening the bolts the film spun round with the bolt.what a mess.i left it overnight to dry before doing this.i still have 2 cans left but would rather buy genuine black rad cowl....by the way it looks great on a classic with the blacked out cover.

I say "BAA" on your blackness. The shinier the better in my book !

I'm considering Plasti-diping the 'backside' of my new "sportshield". The clear coat afforded by the 1/16(?) inch thick plexiglass should give a decent gloss coat to the otherwise flat black "dip". It being removable would allow me to go clear again if later desired.
