Hey everybody,

Wanted to get some opinions on which shop they like best for work on the R3, everything from dyno tuning to turbos. If you know of a shop or heard of a shop in the Northern IL or Southern WI area that does great R3 work and they really know their ****, please let me know.

I know of a great expert Harley engine tech, now I need an expert R3 engine tech.

Thanks

I didn't realize that it took much expertise to work on a Harley motor. The lawnmower shop up town works on them all the time...... I dropped in this spring to get an oil filter for my 23 horse Briggs on the '0' turn and they had one of Milwuakee's finest apart on the bike lift. It looked very similar to my V-twin Briggs except my cylinders are vertical instead of horizontal. If anything, the Briggs looked better built........:)

The R3 is a bit more complex, with 2 oil pumps and dry sump lubrication plus a wet linered engine with a cam and crank ladder and overhead cams not to mention the multi-throat Kehin-Sargem fuel injection.

I better add that Warp 9.9 down in Peoria knows them inside and out but I'm sure he has his price.:D

Far as dealers go, the only one I deal with out your way is Baxters Triumph in Marne, Iowa but maybe Warp has some input.

The fella' that I'm buying my Rocket from says these guys are quite decent, but I don't know if they have a dyno. I've spoken to their top wrench, Robert and he seemed to be very knowledgable. If they don't have the goods, maybe he can refer you to someplace else that does.

In Janesville, WI: www.rideteamtriumph.com

Yep, I've been to that shop in Janesville. Great guys there, but haven't dealt with their service dept. Too bad they don't have a dyno, but I'd love to give them my business.

But you'd be surprised how many horrible Harley techs there are out there, making bikes run worse on a daily basis. The tech I know can make any HD run like a....well, like a European or Jap bike!

Warp 9.9 is a shop?

No. He's just an owner. Warp is really familiar with the inner workings of the R3. he's had his engine apart more than once in his quest for power. I imagine it has something to do with his 320 odd horses and his blower stretching the limits of his internal parts. I enjoy his comment about shifting into 5th at 150 mph....... Guy is 'nuckin futz.

He lives down Peoria way. I'm sure he'll chime in somewhere along the line.

several folks on this site have driven hundreds, possibly over a thousand, of miles to take their Rocs to Baxter's. It sounds like something you should check into.
