Best Gear Oil?

i changed mine at 20000 miles. it came out black, i couldn't believe the small amount that came out. so i have started using valvoline full synthetic 75-90 limited slip.
my opinion is that it is not so important what you use as how many times you change it. i changed mine several times and now it comes out clean.
ps the drain plug breaks of easy so use care when when
tightening. i don't know what is going on with this typing but if it gets any smaller you going to need a magnifying glass.

AskNev what he uses on the Rocket and feel safe in knowing it is probably better then what Triumph uses. Myself I use Joe Gibbs Racing oil products. If I was down under I would use what Nev recommends.

You and me both ,I almost had a seizure when I first dropped the oil out of the final drive ,I didn't trust the dealer to have changed it at the first service ,then I thought it must have been almost empty ,the tiny amount of oil must work hard lubricating the gears so I change mine at 5000klms and engine oil and filter at 10000klms cheap insurance, some say overkill I say each to his own!

The service manual recommends Mobilube 1 SHC 75w/90, which is very hard to find. I see an old thread on this subject in which Amsoil "Severe Gear" was recommended. Is there a better gear oil that is widely available?

The man who recommended Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 was "W. Tripp", whom I assume is a/k/a "Power Tripp". Mainly because of that, and also because that gear oil appears to out-perform the Mobilube SHC recommended by Triumph, I'm going to give it a try. I'll let you know if anything unusually good or bad occurs with it.

I called and talked to mobile on the phone and they told me the recommended equivalent and the states is Mobil delvac 1 gear oil 75w90 you can find it online or they said a lot of your local truck stops will carry it

I checked Autozone before posting my question but the only Mobilube 75w/90 I found there was not "SHC" but was "LS", which I assume stands for limited slip. I'm not sure the "LS" is the same "SHC" oil that was recommended by Triumph but I'll defer to the experts.
Mobil delvac 1 gear oil 75w/90 is the equivalent for the shc hypoid oil in the United States
