Battery Upgrade

You need an Odyssey charger as well. The same website had the PC625 for $90, why did you choose the smaller battery? 185 vs 265 CCA
After reading this entire thread, I chose the smaller batt based on TXClassic's experience with it after 3 years. Not needing to mod the battery box was a small factor, too.

..I just replaced my odyssey 625 today with an Interstate...this one Motorcycles Batteries - Cycle-Tron Plus High Performance - 310 CCA - 18 AH ..same as the OEM yausa I do believe..listed as 310CCA..probably closer to 270...it's about 35* to 40* around here now...after quick install, bike cranked over really fast and fired right up...we'll see what happens tomorrow morning..supposed to get down to 28* tonight..I may have screwed up my Odyessey pc625 by fkn with it to much and not knowing what I was doing..the first charger I had was only 3 amps, supposedly made for the Odyssey..I didn't get the 6 amp charger until the battery was giving me much grief..I really don't have much faith in this new one either......we'll see how long it lasts..only has a 6 month guarantee...the dealer says to only put the battery tender jr. on once amonth for no more than 5 or 6 hours..and then only if the voltage drops down to 12.5..btw..price was $77...

Why would the dealer recommend limited Battery Tender usage when the manufacturer and others suggest otherwise? I'm not trying to bust chops here, but my understanding is that you cannot overload or overcharge your battery with this great little device.

This YTX20HL-BS, at ~$88, is perhaps my next choice. C.C.A.'s: 310, Amp/Hr.: 18. Impressive stats. No need to make alterations as far as I can ascertain.:D

..the Interstate is also listed at 310 CCA..$77..I think the Interstate, the Scorpion, and the heavy duty Yuasa are the same, but the Scorpion is made in China, I do believe..

..it was just his personal opinion as he said he doesn't trust the chargers..personally, I think you'd be fine leaving it hooked up all the time..

I just replaced the stock battery with an Interstate YTX20HL-BS ($82) and it will stay on the BT Jr. fulltime when not ridden during the cooler weather. I'll probably put it on the charger on weekends only once the weather warms up.

..I think you'll be happy with that one..mine fired right up this morning and it was 28*..

Yuppers... It's been in the high teens to low 20s for the last 8 nights and I haven't ridden or warmed up the Mistress at all over that time.

I took her out to let her idle in the driveway for a bit about an hour ago and she fired up just fine! The original battery was always on the tender, but it just got to the point that it couldn't accept or hold a charge that was sufficient to start a cold motor. I am a much happier camper, now.

Just ordered the Odyssey 625 and the Odyssey charger - the battery from the Battery Store (at a discount as apparently they are no longer going to sell Odyssey) and the charger direct from Odyssey (as Battery Store no longer has stock).

My original battery has not crapped out (yet), but when I was in Taos, first start in the AM it REALLY struggled and since returning home (I keep it on a smart charger) it has been showing 11.8 v when I turn the ignition on once it is off the charger... so figured it is time.
