Barnett clutch

Diavel or Blower: that is the question!


I have tribal flames on my predominantly red VTX with that same Kameleon purple to red shade! Love that color. My R3 is black...for now...not sure where to go with its color. Would love to run a supercharger like yours but I think I'll just settle for Nitrous. The new Ducati Diavel will be debuting next month and I may need to have one!!!

Thank's for the link Warp look forward to seeing the results of your labours and for what it worth the VTX will still always be just another Hardley Ableson Copy not that is bad thing but the Rocket is a result of Original thinking and if you spent as much as they had on the VTX, you would probaly have 600 or 700+ hp not mention yours is fully road useable really no comparison... have they actually made a succesfull run yet
 
Just thought I would add this little tidbit. The fiber plates are the same plates for the vtc1800 as they are for the rocket. When I received my first set of plates for my rocket I immediately noticed that they looked the same. I went to the shop and found out that they were the same. I called Kevin at MTC and he confirmed...

After a few issues with Barnett clutches not holding up in several applications, I do not use them any longer - other than for steels. The MTC fiers are significantly better - enough so, that we keep a couple of fiber, spring, and steel sets in stock for the R3 at all times.
 
Clutch replace work with Barnett kit

Hello,

I am planning to replace stock clutch with Barnett kit for my 06 Classic by myself. I have services manual but it does not say how to with engine oil before opening the clutch cover. Do I have to drain my oil first or it's not always necessary? I replaced oil just before the clutch started slipping so it's brand new oil. I don't want to be surprised with oil flood out when opening clutch cover though. Also, tell me if I need any of special tools just replacing fibers and metal plates along with springs. draining engine oil depends on how fast your tank leaks down. Personally I have done it drained and filled its easier drained. Or at least drain the sump if you think your going to be quick about it. Also I would use stock fibers before I bought barnet ones. I use the MTC fibers and will never go back. If you choose the mtc fibers leave out the anti- judder spring and seat out. The rear fiber has less surface area due to the anti judder crap. MTC uses full fibers all the way thru. I also would add stiffer springs, MTC has some stronger ones which are ok if your beast is not a big hp monger. Heavier duty springs help the engine that their owners run car oils with extra friction modifiers in. (not used in wet clutch situations.)
You should also update the lifter piece to the newer style it has a larger head on it compared to the 06 style.

Thank you, Warp. I will drain the sump and put the exptra oil tray on the ground for further leak.

I will also order lifter piece but Barnett kit has already ordered. After I compared Stock/Barnett/MTC, I have chosen Barnett mainly because of price and considering that my Rocket has no mod for motor.
I prefer to use stock but don't know why stock priced about double in total if I order friction, plates and springs.

One more question about gasket installation. Do I need any grease or oil to seal on gasket when I install it?
