Rarely ride 2 up the wife really does not care to ride with me anymore. Just looked and my last rear tire on my fjr 1300 lasted 6,250 miles which is not bad for me (pirelli angel st). Got just as bad mileage if not worse when i had a yamaha stratoliner. ZX14r same but that bike was ridden fast and hard. I check my tire pressures every weekend and at the most 2 weeks usually just none to 2lb down. My wife recently talked me out of going darkside because of insurance reasons. Had a wreck on my 2005 rocket 3 and insurance was not going to pay at first because i put a car tire on the rear. I dont understand either when folks say they get 10k or more out of a rear tire I have never seen that on my bikes.

Here is the tire I just took off. Probably the first time I have not run a tire smooth or to the cords. Was just into the wear bars. Probably could of ran another 500miles but decided to just get a fresh one on.

Yup, that's why I have not tried it yet. Thought about coming from rear, sideways, legs will still be in the way. Might hang a chain from a tree. Not in a big hurry, have 5 other bikes needing attention. Just hung a new tag on my 2013, and have 2 harley sportsters ride able. Have new fuel pump for the drag Rocket, to mount up and re-plumb. New rear tire/wheel for the 05, carbs got to come back off the Kawasaki, to see what I did wrong??? on and on. "no rest for the wicked" and I've been a very bad boy!
I would like to have it suspended from above seems way more safe. Figure out a different way next time.

I'm with you brother- I get about 4K miles to a tire. I picture Kansas as flat and straight, but maybe I'm wrong. Here in western NC the roads are super twisty and the pavement it rough. Mine tend to wear out on the outer edges before the center- doesn't matter the brand. Tire pressure, yes, yes.....

I quickly took to changing my own tires (about 3X/year) using a Mojo lever, but that's another post.

With the lift you have will do it. Raise bike max on that lift which you placed under sump, then you can strap the front to the floor lift and pull it down which will raise the rear and keep stable, is how i remove the rear tire for replacement or quick lube.

No way.... I'd get like 8k till down to the wear bars. I'm 260lbs too. I swear. My ninja ex500 gets about 10k on a set of metsler road tech
Maybe it's just the tire.. m are you getting discount tires? Dealership tires have infact 30% less tred from the show room floor to keep them cheap but sell a performance tire.

You need to ride in corners harder and more. That tire I would not have changed yet. When you commute it kills tires. Most of my miles is back road canyon riding and some light traveling. So the sides are just about as worn as the middle. You need to get a highway tire seeing as you never seem to do anything but go on a stair line... Or is that tire says

Kansas is flat and straight, the hardest cornering I get is in a roundabout. A lot of my riding is just commuting back and forth to work.
