2008 R3T
I posted this first on the R3T section of this Forum. Last Fall, the Aux. Lights started only coming on half the time when starting the bike up. I would have to fli[p the switch to get them to light. Finally, they bite the dust. Here is the info. 2007 R3T OEM auxiliary lights. Always worked before. Just noticed in the fall that they wouldn't come on sometimes when I started up the bike. I had opened the switch housing and removed the switch. While in the on position, I twisted the switch around and heard the relay clicking. Lights did not flicker when relay clicked. Read the voltage drop accross a meter. Not sure why moving the switch around made it the relay click. And when the relay did click, why lights didn't flicker or come on. Yes bulbs are good.

As I said in a earlier post my problem was a burnt wire in the plug where they hook together under the tank

rainman,
My daughter is attending Lee University in Cleveland. Maybe we can get together sometime when I'm up that way.

Unless you KNOW it's the relay - why waste money.

If it were me I get the multimeter out and start tracing wires.

Given Triumph's track record with under-spec'ing wiring - I'd not be in the slightest surprised if there's a short caused by overheating or abrasion somewhere. On the normal R3's the relays are all industry standard - And GOOD auto electricians will have them.

If you're not up to tracing and debugging wiring - Find a local auto electrician and pay him/her. Too many shorts and you can start to fry stuff with voltage spikes.

the relays at triumph are fairly cheap i bought the starter relay (aka change over relay) for $14.99 list my price was $10.95. triumph # T2501705 it is a 5 blade and should be able to replace any of the relays.
mine is 07 rocket do not know what the later rockets have. i replaced mine and now carry a spare..
a good mechanic would check at that relay to fine the problem. with a power probe you can check grounds and supply power to the aux lights. if you power and the lights don't work you have problems with wiring or connectors like others have said.
