I have 14" mini apes on my Ultra and d@mn glad too. They are not the ridiculous variety that you have to be Shaq to reach but they do put my hands up and far enough back that I can use my backrest. Stock position made my hands go to sleep and my back hurt after a couple of hours. I say give em a go and let us know how you like it
The rocket iii touring bars are listed as 9 inches tall. If you have Rivco risers, that's another 3 inches. So mathematically, 12 inch apes should bolt right up. The clamping area is my concern. I want the Wild 1 Chubby 1 1/4 bars, but noticed they are 1 inch at clamp but 1 1/4 between the clamps. Will it mount properly?
Well I guess it might suit some folks??? But I reckon they look stupid
I mean---- does this pecker look like he's bright how's ha gonna light his smoke ???

Personally, I feel good with ape-hangers on most new Harleys when they're on the showroom floor; not as extreme as the examples on this thread though.
My concern is that one of the first accidents I ever witnessed was when I was riding behind a Sportster that had the grips too vertical. The rider couldn't react on a curve and ended up taking out a small tree. I don't think HD actively sells that type today, but the experience was a real-life inspiration to something taught in riding basics regarding the ability to apply pressure to a particular grip when needed.
If Triumph's business had evolved differently, I'd think they may have developed something with apes.
The apes on my 2053cc V2K are 18", but my hands are well below my arm pits due to the down turn of the grips.
The most comfy motor I've ever had. It definitely does NOT perform like my R3R, but WAY more pleasant to ride.
