My main problem was getting my last pipe on - left side one. The bolt holes wouldn't line up and I had to loosen the whole shebang so I could pull left side cat repl. pipe back further. Now I should clarify that I bought the replacement used from one of our members (could he have bent a tube?) and he shipped it USPS ground 2000+ miles with NO PACKING. It was also a bear getting the old cat off because I didn't realize the one holding bolt was threaded through not only the bracket, but a tube thru the grommet assembly which had a large washer at the end. The washer was turning and the bolt had cleared the plate....what's wrong?....it won't come out! Hold the washer and keep turning the bolt!
You can't see the sleeve attached to the washer as it's in the grommet.
O.K. tors plus cat removed is a bit loud. Has anyone out there put their stock silencers back on after cat removal, and what sound did you get. I wasn't happy with just the tors. Does putting the stocks back on take you from a 7 of 10 sound level back to about a 5? Or is it about as quiet as tors and cat box still there??? I assume it also knocks out the popping on decel quite a bit - is that why guys have put 1 or two back on? It's a strange 'backfire' in that it doesn't start the second you decel, but waits into you're going much slower in that particular gear. My moto guzzi with crossover and pipes started the growling as soon as I reduced throttle.
P.S. Thanks guys for the tip of how to 'gently' remove the pipe gasket out of the cat box. Took a while but was successful . I assume Triumph doesn't send a new one with the cat replacement (?).
