My clutch started to slip the other day  But until now only in 5th gear. I was riding at 3000 rpm was alone on the bike and gave nearly full trottle... then it started to slip  It only happens that one time. Got a little nervous now when I push the bike hard. Have any of you changed your clutch yet? And by what mileage? (My bike has 6400 miles on the clock). I think the adjustment is ok. Appreciate some good advice :)

When I first bought my bike, which was a used and abused Demo bike, the clutch did the same thing. Not wanting to be down on a Sunday as so often seems to be the case, I bought a clutch pack right away. Later I discovered the adjustment was not perfect, (easy to be fooled with the adjustable lever) and after adjusting the cable I have had no further problems, (another 2500 pretty hard miles since then)
Good Luck

I think 95% of Captains have not needed clutch replacements even if they've gone over the 20000 mile mark. Like TurboFan said, it's usually a clutch cable adjustment thing. The Rocket is real sensitive to exactly the right amount of cable play.

A few of us though did switch to the Barnett performance clutch parts and that will keeps things working real well if you have done a lot of performance upgrades, but I think it's overkill for a mainly stock Rocket.

Same thing happened to me and had to adjust my cable... but this was on the ride home from first getting the bike! What a downer when you first buy a bike! lol I got over it, but didn't install any faith with the dealer.

Thanx for your advices. I will try if I can figure out have to adjust the clutch cable in the manual and get back to you with the result. Again thanx for the help :D :D :D This is what makes this forum so great. And you all of course :D

Adjustet the clutch to a precise 2 mm gab. Problem solved. No more slipping. The clutch gab was adjustet wrong. No gab at all. Thanx again :D

When mine went, no amount of cable play helped. Clutch looked brand new...I think the clutch springs are the weak link....
