Any difference between 2009 and 2013 tour models?

I was told that the original tour models had the same engine tuning as the roadsters but at some point it changed. Any idea when they changed it?

The 2007 Rocket 3 Tourer was a Classic with a windshield and soft bags. It had the same frame and tune as the standard Classic. Starting in 2008 Triumph introduced the Touring. It is a completely different motorcycle. Different frame, front end, bodywork and drive. The engine is mechanically the same but uses a different ecu and is tuned more for torque than horsepower.

2008 to 2017 are identical except 2013 abs became an option and standard in 2014. My 2013se came with abs according to the sticker and vin# but it did not!

Some 2008 had detent spring issues, other than that they are pretty solid bikes.

I would buy as New as you can afford, unless you desire color choice!

Good luck!

Seems the detent spring was an issue with the 2008 model , mine went a few months ago , but it was'nt an expensive fix ,, the mechanic said they must of fixed the new spring stronger because the new one is a different part number . The touring has a narrower back wheel to enable the panniers to fit , but reports were it makes the bike handle better , but has with all bikes , i don't take any notice of this one handles better than that one , i feel thats all down to rider ability ,, i've not rode the standard rocket , but i've certainly been left behind by a few of them , and some with the car tyres in the twisties .

Getting that tune done opens the touring up , but then again its got a lot of power anyway .
