Another New Dark Sider

What do you do, haul it everywhere you go? I went through a metz in 4k miles. And I ride like an old man.

LOL, no, got the 240 HP Carpenter pack, so I don't need to haul it. 90% of the mileage is touring round Europe doing 100 mph, never touch the rear brake, No burn outs, except when my son rides it. Just bought my third Metzeler rear tire, after 32000 miles.

Actually numb nuts, they are tyres in this part of the world. Most people have the intellect to work it out. We spell colour with a 'u' too, and use 's' more than 'z' (which is pronounced zed) in words like organise and apologise. Americans who feel the need to point these things out are either ignorant or tiresome bores. There's a whole world out there; not just the tiny bit you seem stuck in. Give it try.

Actually way back in 5th grade I started using as many British spellings as I could find. Such as colour vs color, flavour vs flavor, labour vs labor, metre vs meter, litre vs liter and theatre vs theater just to piss my teacher off. She couldn't really mark them wrong but she didn't like it. I enjoyed bucking the system way back then.

I remember the first time I looked at a repair manual for an MG and wondering at first what a bonnet and bulkhead were. Over here we call them the hood and firewall. In some ways I enjoy reading my Triumph repair manual just for the new words. Over here fixings are the side dishes served with a large meal.

Us Yanks aren't all the same.

Over the years of being on forums I've learned quite a bit in the different spellings and words.I have just learned a new one on the LED Lights thread. Main and dip, where we say high and low beam.

I've just done another 100km at night and have 2 more new words for the stock candles - sh*t beam and sh*tter beam

ANOTHER 100kms? - good god, man. You're a glutton for punishment. One 150km run at night on stock lights was enough for me. The 40/45W bulb in my old Guzzi puts more light on the road.

Here in Auss most of us refer to them as "High or Hi" and "Low" and we "Dip" our lights from hi to low, it is also worth noting that the same word can be pronounced differently depending on which state you are in:rolleyes: Go figure o_O
