sounds to me like the k&n filters are the way to go over the ram air couple folks here said the ram air have come apart
At least one of those is VERY dubious. But because it was an Facebook the world believes it.

I have been running RamAir since the very first prototype made for Colin. Not had one fail. Made a filter using their foam for the 4WD too.
They tell you how to look after it - but everybody thinks they know better.

Conversely I have had to ditch at least 3 sets of K&N over the years because the rubber went hard. Wont here me dishing K&N tho'

I had the K&N RZ2780 on before - the Raimair improved things.

Assuming I get over later this month - I will be taking a ride to see Chris Yates at Ramair. He was going to design one - in fact he used my bike to Spit-ball one the last time I was there with Colin.

I made mine from a simple flat sheet of composite honeycomb material that somebody sent me as packing material from the US. Chris made his "spit-ball" from 16g Ali - it was a much closer fit as it was to form part of the Gen2 High performance RAMMED AIR version for modified motors. I think, that will no longer see the sight of day, but he may have the heatwall lying about.
 
I have already dismantled Tayas stainless steel tea strainer giving me a 3 inch diameter of very fine mesh . I'm on it ! Will let you know the results .
Why is it every time, you always involve me in your problems..... one way or another :thumbsdown::cautious: haha who uses tea strainers anymore o_O;)
 
Or these MAYBE IF you used offset extension connectors Front and rear up and center down. See following post with TB dimensions.

As said before , I liked the Ramair , especially as it came as an entire package ! As for solvents or mishandling ? I did take good care of mine and certainly kept chemicals away from it . It is however , very easy to damage . Especially when removing the bear claw . Mine is splitting away from the moulded intake rubbers , as well as breaking down in the foam itself . The pod filters are even more delicate , I did look into these , but it seemed that just cleaning the bike , they would be easy to catch and tear . They seem no more resilient than a bath sponge on a stick !
