ABS Light stays on with 130/70R-17 front tire

Bike's dropped off at Castle Powersports and the 140 is being done tomorrow.

No luck on the 2013 tune uploaded but I guess I'll have to force myself to figure out TuneECU since I already have the cable...

Looks like I'll need to take the LONGGGG way home tomorrow from to make sure the tire's good. LOL
 

100% is a tyre pressure problem. Went for a run (the Traffic ****'s Helicopter was not about AT LAST) - had some wobble at close to 180kph. Took the front up to 40psi (which was were I'd set it - but it had dropped to 36) and the wobble disappears totally.

There is (I know - I've seen it before) a formula to calculate the rise/drop in tyre pressure required in a tyre based on the relative MAX PSI vs LOAD RATING. A 130/70 tyre has considerably lower LOAD rating than a 150/80. So will probably need more pressure to support the load correctly - a 130 is probably best run at MAX rated pressure.

My 140/80 is load rated somewhere in the middle.
 
UPDATE re: 130

Boys, I have made some mistakes and this was one of them.
1) The ABS light did eventually come on
2) The brakes worked with NO ABS functionality
3) The 130 caused a VERY noticeable loss of lean angle. After a few hundred miles I was set on replacing it with another 140 when I returned home.

You were spot on about that peg bar. After sitting on the deck at Alice's Restaurant (south of Frisco) watching the world ride by while listening to "You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant I made it two turns down the road when my front tire caught a rumble strip cut in the center line! Hadn't seen that stupid idea before. The skinny little tire slid out putting me down instantly. It was a suggested 30mph and I was doing 30 mph - I was NOT hot footing this time. Pretty sure that front peg bar was indeed the first thing to hit pavement after the tire had slipped.

Bottom line the bike has cosmetic damage and will be ridden home next week by my brother. I FUBARED my left ankle, with several beaks in tibia and fibula and ankle. My foot, although well protected by my Red Wing boots, was left pointing about 5° to the left.

Ouch! - So I wont be pursuing my 120 front/200 rear idea then.
 
1olbull, mate sorry the hear of h injuries, those ankle injuries can be real painful and take their time to heal. Get well soon.
So How did the 130 compare with the 140 and how did they both compare with th stock 150.
 
When I first heard of your accident - I wondered if you might feel like the 130 contributed.

I rode the 130 on the dragon and around 1000 miles total. Loved the feel of the tire but certainly scrapped very hard a few times and was even leaned over enough that I was about 1/2" from scraping my highway pegs on some of the pics.

I've put the 140 tire on the front but only have 60 miles or so on the tire so don't want to give my opinion yet.

No problems of any kind with my 130 and I ride the piss out of it.

It's all about the lean angle, IMHO.
If you can set up a 120 - 200 without anything dragging pavement . . .
Did you say a 120?!?!?!?!?!

I have now run all three sizes. 140 was a great improvement with forward weight shift in and through the corners. I figured if 1 beer good - two beers better - so I tried the 130. It only took me 100 miles or so before realizing I had gone too far as the reduced lean angle by far negated any possible gains in handling.

At this point I shall stay with a 140 front AND I shall add some better performing front shocks AND taller than stock rear Hagon Nitros, which should improve both the lean angle and weight transfer.
Not sure yet whether 13" or 13.5" would be better.

I wear my tires from tread edge to tread edge, so there must be some substantive difference between our setups, Steve. For me, going to the 130 was as marked an improvement in handling as it was when I went from the OEM 150 to the Michelin Commander II 140.

I run the 240 Exedra Max in the rear with 12" Progressive 440 shocks, therefore my geometry in the rear is pretty close to the stock setup. That tire is .47" taller than a stock Metz and the shocks are 1/2" lower than stock, thus they pretty well cancel each other out. I'm about 5' 10" and weigh around 200 lbs fully geared up.
