A Sheep In Wolf's Clothing or Vice Versa?

Most manufacturers have recalls unless they are small. Every major car manufacturer has had them. Here is a a bit of info I also read while looking up the recall.

Triumph Motorcycles in America has been fined US$2.9 million for failing to report a safety recall over a steering issue to the relevant authorities.
The parent company in England has admitted it violated the Safety Act by failing to file certain quarterly reports on safety recalls last year in a timely manner to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

You can ask any mechanic about any machine made. That is how they make their living repairing machines. There are 3 reasons machines fail
Operator error
Single part failure
Design flaw
Any machine made by man will fail at some time during the life of that machine. The more of the same machine made the higher odds of machine failures due to the 3 above listings

I made a good living out of machines that failed.

Phil, I am not the kind who cares who or if someone tolerates me. I'm just another dude with an opinion on the internet. I looked up the Harley brake recall and what it said was they were recalling about 6000 bikes or maybe 66000 bikes to see if a brake line might possibly be pinched between the tank and the frame which could cause the brake to lock up. There were 6 incidents total and no injury. Art makes it sound like many have died and many more are about to or will soon. I don't give a rats a-- about Harley but to be fair they they are not unsafe POS at least in my mind. Thousands of them or maybe millions are being ridden every day with no problems. I don't know where the eighty dollar tee shirts are but every dealer is trying to cash in on the tee shirt sales craze. Even fast food places try to sell you tee shirts with their add on it. If some fool pays eighty dollars for a tee shirt it don't mean the fast food is no good or the bike brand is no good it just means that a fool has entered that business. I wonder if Carpenter Racing has tee shirts. In my opinion anyone who buys a shirt to advertise someone else business is a fool, but I've done it and so has most everyone but Art done it.
NO I love T shirts and and all that cool motorcycle clothing I have it all and I sold all that cool stuff for years and years and Carpenter sells lots of shirts and I have hundreds of shirts jackets etc GOOD STUFF DAVE and HARLEY makes more money selling clothing than selling motorcycles YEP and lots of safety recalls from cars and motorcycles of all makes and many have died over the years so yes I was discussing the Harley recall with my friend who owns the local HD dealership hes the one that told about the massive recall and hes been struggling to fix all the recalled bikes and they been involved in some nasty lawsuits as a result of the thousands of affected and dangerous bikes causing injury and several deaths sounds unsafe to me LOL

NO deaths attributed to the BRAKE RECALL as far as I could find on goggle for Harley. Every lawyer would like to sue Harley and in the event of a crash many people call the lawyer even before the doctor. In this country the lawyers are pushing to sue gun manufacturers if one of their guns kills someone in a criminal act. Maybe we can sue the knife and fork manufacturers if we become overweight. It seems you are mad that Harley makes more selling clothes than bikes. Many dealers are trying their best to do the same. You were a dealer selling shirts etc, you weren't doing it for a hobby. I bet you wish your customers were as big a fan of of the bikes you sold as the HD customers were.

While I do appreciate those who put operational excellence into their interests, as we do here, that isn't the primary reason why riders choose any particular motorcycle.

Life is short. If one wants to live it on a H-D, then I say spend as much as you want and enjoy yourself.

Sometimes a superior Triumph isn't enough :cautious:
