A potential Rocket Rider - another Aussie

I don't like the Roadster peg position either. The few times I've ridden one I kept banging my shin on them too and much prefer the forward position of the older models. Triumph needs a hit up the back of the head for the Roadster position.
Anyway, welcome to the site. Like many of us, riding one was the deciding factor. I ride mine every day and find it fine in traffic, although Canberra can't really be compared to Sydney.

As for adjustable peg rails, look at these. A bit pricey but might give you some ideas. Link Removed Why Triumph never thought to do something like this I'll never know.

Welcome mate - I do 150km round trip as a daily commute half freeway speed half in stop/start traffic. Lane splitting is a more careful process than other bikes I'vehad and yep, the big girl does get warm but Perth is hotter than Sydney and I cope just fine...as for the pegs - I have no problem and I'm 6"1

Yep, probably only because I am used to the GS positioning. I found it quite uncomfortable to have both feet on the road and pushing the bike around (yes I know, should be riding it :) but I wanted to check out the parking ability. Also every time I put my feet down I kept banging my calf. I know it will just be a case of getting used to it. When I took a 1200GS for a demo I kept banging my shins against the engine heads. but overall the pegs are fine as all of my riding at the moment is city based 28km at a time (so 56km a day return), nice to have my feet under me in traffic.
I understand thats the first thing I noticed when I sat on a Roadster. Its one of the reasons I love the Classic floor board set up on mine. Its to bad the quit making them in 09.

The Heat is no issue UNTIL you put the Reband Exhaust system on.
Peg position is a matter of choice. If it suits you great if not great you have a choice - I like the roadster position but I have short legs.

Welcome to the site mate. The r3 is truley awesome and I ride mine to work every day but not in city traffic. Infact when I do have to ride it in peak hour I find it to be a chore more than enjoyable so I would definitely not recommend it as a city commuter

And this is exactly why I have to garage my Speed Triple at my friends place .. so Mitch can't get his hands on it  hang-on no not my friends place .. some other place .. hahaha

I ride mine everyday and its great but i dont have to deal with intense traffic . traffic yes but not sydney traffic . In traffic that stops and starts and generally sucks arse it can be a bit annoying on the big girl but i wouldnt trade her for anything. wouldnt mind TCs speedy as a mon-fri bike though perfect bike for riding to work

geez I love living in the country except the upcoming 2 months when All the City folk from Canberra and Sydney not mention a quite a few from Melbourne our 20,000 population grows to 60,000

I'd be concerned about grinding my boots if you push the pegs back - pegs scrape pretty easy as it is, wouldn't want my toes lower than the level of the pegs. Been caught that way once before.
