I'll add my 2 cents. I bought my 2008 brand new in March of 2010.
I've had a couple of issues, one being the clutch lifter shaft. The factory
shaft is made of silly putty. Get that P.O.S. out of there! You want to call
Power Tripp Performance and get his tool steel machined version of that shaft.
Reason: THEY FAIL and when they do, your on the side of the road!
Second: Get ahold of Eastern Beaver and get a wiring harness bypass for your
ignition switch. This nicely made little harness plugs right into your factory harness
and removes the excessive heat going through your ignition switch.
I'm still hopeful for long term reliability (at 17,000 miles). But the bike does have
some great features, you just need to be aware of some of the problem areas.
I got mine (Brand new demo w/790 miles) for $14,000. It was the best deal on an
open class touring bike that I could find. I still have my fingers crossed.
Victory X Country = $22,000 to 24,000
Harley FLHCT = $24,000 to 27,000
Kawasaki 1700 - $16,000 to 18,000
Honda = Shadow Touring $15,000 to 17,000
Suzuki C90T = $16,000 to 17,000
Yamaha Star = $17,000 to 19000
So, $14,000 is pretty reasonable. If I can get long term reliability, I'll be way ahead.
