The Shorai LiFeP04 for the R3 runs 285 and that's no prob if you need those CCA. All I am saying is there is an economical way to reach "balance" for most of us guys with 7.8 to 1 compression and big flywheels.
I spent 81 on the East Penn Batt(Dela/Big Crank) 310 CCA AGM and that left enough coin to pay for my whole rear tire at 157 and my EBC brake pad replacement. Now I could afford the Shorai but do I need all those CCA's at my low compression high stress marraige? Probably not. I admire the guys that have the setups that require these. Being new to the 07 Rocket...it is a initial financial black hole...Tires, brakes, battery, insurance, mechanic and my bike is not high performance so I have to find deals where I find them to do more maintenance than I would if I dropped 300 on a battery.

Not saying LiFeP04's are not a paradigm shift in battery technology-just you got to pay to play to get the CCA and weight savings lost to half of us R3 owners that can get by on a 80 dollar QUALITY battery.

That SHorai cost more than my new set of Tires so till I get up to date on maintenance I have to strike that balance and the Deka ETX-20L does that for me.

Ride safely guys!

Cheers...Greg

PS...The oil change on this bike cost more than my 62000 dollar Infinity Q70...so you know somethings up!

YEP its not a must on a stock bike but why are the cold weather starting complaints always being posted then starter replacements and heavier cables { i like that mod } So all im saying is the powerful batteries and heavier cables eliminate all starting problems are a great addition on any of the high compression modified bikes and they always start and in the scheme of things its a sure cheap fix for a few hundred $ a no brainer for the big HP High comp bikes

I know a guy with a big Carpenter modded KAW 4 cycl who will spend hundreds of $ in strip clubs 3- 4 times a week and he drinks every night who refused to buy the battery he needed to get his bike to start on hot and cold days so we had to push start the idiot 50% of the time Triumph Phil knows who im talking about well he finally spent the $170.00 after he ended up stranded twice LOL anyway now the thing starts everytime

I am looking at one of these to replace the original after nearly 5 years.
DYNAVOLT, GEL - MG20HL-BS-C /DTX20HL-BS/CTX20L-BS [20Ah / CA 460]

Please Note:
CA and CCA are not the same thing.
CCA on this battery is 230. :D

What? With the ladies, having a Triumph Rocket is like walking a 3 month old puppy . All the Babes stop and want to lend a hand. You just have to sort through the chaff! However-this does not work if you have a big gut and your arse is hanging out the back of your pants.

LOL...that is nothing...Wait til Summer ATGATT! This is SC....anything and everything comes bouncing out of the back of the Redneck pickup trucks-hence the leg protectors. Hammers, chains, Jon Boats..you name it! These leg protectors have saved me on several occasions from UFO's and I wear them even over my Olympia mesh pants....Alot of the oldsters I ride with give me a hard time when I wear them and I just let them know that I need these legs for another 20 yrs to catch up to their age.

On a serious note...I was riding my 07 SV 1000 and a pick up truck coming the other direction kicked up a road alligator(piece of retread) and it was coming straight for me on a bounce. I was trying to calculate whether to slow down or accelerate to miss it and I pulled of the side of the road and applied my brakes on wet grass. The rear tire slid out and I laid the bike down and tried to slide it away from me but the bike at about a dead stop pinned my leg with the kevlar protectors on...I was trying to pick the bike up(about 400 lbs) and the right exhaust pipe was cooking my right calve and luckily I was wearing leathers and leg protectors....Anywho the hotter that leg protector got the stronger I got and freed myself from the bike. After that day I wear them relentlessly as it saved me from 3rd degree burns and All The Gear All The Time is my OCD.

BTW....The bike ran great; the extra rake and the cupped front tire was a bit distracting but this BIKE IS A WINNER!
