Ya just don't know, what you don't know, Art!
MC headlight have sucked at least as long as I've been riding (since 1950).
I was in trial just today regarding a MC crash caused by an unmarked pedestrian concrete island placed in the middle of the road.
The MC light on low beam at night was only sufficient for a max of 63 feet ahead of the rider!!!
If traveling down the road at 30 mph (44 feet/sec) just your perception response time of 2 sec equates to 88 feet. CRASH, BANG, BOOM!
This does not even consider the time and distance it would take to stop or swerve to avoid (another 43 feet).
Now this was indeed an HD without Daymakers or LED and some OEM MCs are better, like up to 120 feet. Cage lights in a comparable setting are are around 300 feet, give or take. A HUGE difference!!!
In the 30 mph speed zone case, in order for the MC to NOT override his headlight, his speed would need to be about 20 mph . . . in a 30 zone!?!?
Just sayin' . . .
