I've done searches on GT/R tank bags on the site with limited results.........

On my other bikes, I've found tank bags to be a good option for carrying misc items like rain suit, gloves, sunglasses, etc...etc that are easily accessible.
I would like the bag to fit the profile of the tank without looking like a small box stuck on top. I would hope for something that's wide as the tank
and low profile.
Does anybody know of such a bag? I have not spent time looking for such a unusual type, hoping somebody has already found one?
Thanks,
Larry

I have a cheap proposition for you. Buy a backpack, padded and soft. Cut the shoulder straps off or turn them out. Buy 4 strong magnets and put inside of the backpack around the back side, fix them from moving. Voila. Flat and long, many pockets, huge selection of backpacks..

As I said, cheap, for the idea it will be $10 payable immediately.

PS: I never seen a rain suit fit in a tank bag, unless it is a garbage bag with a neck and arms cut out. Probably not a suit, more like a condom.

PS. For a magnet choice, look for ones with a hole like: Amazon.com
If you'll need to fix them to the material with a thread, the hole will help. If you find them too strong, use an old sock to "plush" them with enough layers.

Triumph make a magnetic tank bag specifically for the Gen 2 R3's (I have one) 4 heavy duty magnets, soft material protecting the tank & a moulded section that matches up around the filler. Has a window on top for your cell phone & an opening at the front for a charge cable. have you looked into that? Mine came with the bike when I brought it, think they're quite expensive for the size.

Thanks Kiwicol....... just went to the Triumph site and did find the bag. Don't know the cost, but I'm sure I could find something
much less expensive. I'll try to find a back pack I can modify before considering the Triumph solution.

So, if you buy into Triumph, this is how it would all look like:

Looks bloody cramped eh, the tank bag should be up further to encompass the filler, there's a cut out section specifically for that, would give a bit more room. Having said that, I've never done tank bags, but I got one with my R3GT.

I will never understand the guys who bought a bike for 30,000 bucks and who want to modify a backpack to save 50 bucks...I'm certainly not saying that you should buy the most expensive thing ( Triumph parts for example...) but when there is choice at a fair price surely better done than homemade DIY! (the SW Motech tank bag can be found on Ali for 35 euros for example...
