A certainty of RAIN? Are you kidding? I'd be traveling 2200 miles, each way, for rain. I am not familiar with the climate in that neck of the woods and just assumed it would be a dry time of year. Heck, if I want rain I can stay in Washington.

I was more concerned about Skips comment of agreement, or was he just kidding. The last time I rode through was a mid May 2012 when I rode RT66. The weather was spectacular all the way into New Mexico when we hit torrential downpours. Apparently it was drought's end there.
I have never hauled a bike to an event but just because of the distance and time involved I might just do that. It's super slab all the way and the VStrom is not that great a highway bike. being better for the back roads and off road.
I can make better time in my truck and I'll just have to absorb the ribbings I might receive from all you real riders.
