I picked up my Roadster last Thursday. The weather has not been good at all. I have only 150 miles towards the break-in so far. I am very pleased with the beast. It has a very strong bark under load and I haven't been above 3 1/2 grand yet. it's very smooth, comfortable, and moves along very quickly. Remember "There is no replacement for displacement"
SuperD - The book says (my summary) -for the first 500miles
-Do not use full throttle
-Don't stay at the same engine revs for a long period, fast or slow
-avoid aggressive riding ie big handfuls
-Don't ride at more than 3/4 max speed (that's 100mph)
Then for the next 500
-use max rpm only for short bursts
So you're pretty safe to ride normally right from new - just don't labour the beast and keep changing gear a lot. Problem might be finishing off the running in - -the using max rpm bit. that's when you get done by a speed camera! The way mine accelerates even with only 800miles on it is addictive -in third! There's definitely a step up in power at about 3500-4000rpm and if you take a handful you'll be over the ton.
