Rocket III Touring Risers

I just had the Rivco's installed and NOT happy. Shop followed instructions but clutch cable is a problem after re-routing. After a short ride very difficult in shifting while standing still in driveway. Can't shift up, down or to neutral while engine running and am unable to back up into the garage. I get the feeling that the clutch does not totally disengage. Bike wants to go forward- slightly. This is an 08 R3T. The shop said I might have a problem because they felt that with the risers that perhaps the clutch cable should be slightly longer. I'm off to Americade next week so perhaps I'll have the originals reinstalled. PLEASE, any suggestions ????

I've ridden a couple thousand miles with the risers installed and have no problems shifting. Did you remove the clutch cable from behind the black plastic cover? If not, take out the two or three bolts holding the cover in place and put the cable on the outside.

Well, I'm only an inch shorter than you and with the Rivco risers the bar ends are two inches from my legs at full lock. Are the bar ends digging in or is it the brake/clutch levers? If so, those are also adjustable. Now, if that 6'4" is made up of a seriously short trunk and a 40" inseam then I can understand your problem. If not, try the Rivcos and adjust those bars.

LOL

34" inseam and we will look into moving the levers. but, at first look, after moving the levers they might be out of position. So, we'll give it a look and see what happens...

gotta wait until friday.... arrrggggg !!! lol

Harry, Thanks for side cover hint. I just moved the clutch cable to the outside of the side cover and it's much better. Moving the clutch cable to the outside of the Windshield release lever is even better than if the cable is rubbing up against the plastic neck cover. I'll use it as it is till after Americade but will order a longer cable and change it over. Really love the feel of the risers vs OEM.

I've installed risers on 3 different R3Ts and after rerouting the cable never had a need for installing a longer cable. It should be fine.
