$2000,00 for Beetle Bags? WTF?

Do you guys want an even bigger scare? I went to my local Triumph dealer and asked if I could fit a pair of the hard bags from the touring rocket to my standard rocket. Indeed I could, but would I be willing to pay?? How much, I asked. He said "$3260". Then he added "each". Yep, over $6400 for a pair of the genuine Triumph hard bags. Triumph need to take medication, they have a serious psychiatric condition if they think I'll pay over $6400 for them. If I did, then I'd be the one with the psychiatric illness.

I bought a set of the black Corbin BB bag off our clasified and I like them . They fit and line up were they are suposed to you dont have to force or revamp and thats wat you want wen you pay top dallar for stuff you want it to work and fit right out of the box .

Having some fun boys. Question-how many of you have an ARAI fullface , Shoei Multitech, or a Schuberth C3 helmet? You didn't bat an eye plunking down $500-$800 USD...did ya? My 2 cents worth, not only are the beetle bags worth the money , they are a functional piece of art, and the fleetliner faring is absolutely remarkable. The craftsmenship is beyond compare and I for one appreciate the craftsmenship behind the product. These aren't extruded or molded ABS plastic that garner $1000-$1500/set , like my Tiger 1050 bags. They are hand made, hand laid fiberglass with great attention to detail, just like my ARAI Vector UK helmet. If you want cheap, go spray some resin on a couple of brown paper bags....LOL...hold on boys...just kidding. My point is, they are the cats meow, otherwise they wouldn't be as highly sought after as they are. Pony up or hope someone that bit the bullet sells their Rocket , cuz that's the only way your going to get a set. Well, I guess I've stirred the pot enough on this subject...Yahoo....adios amigos.

I don't - but there is a HUGE difference twixt paying out for a lid which supposedly protects your brain and hearing better, and paying out for a set of luggage that WILL get scratched and messed about. And comments recently regarding quality (or lack thereof) are rife. Corbins (as a customer, I'm sorry to say) are living off an an old reputation.

You are paying for looks, and to some extent exclusivity. That in itself is a reason that is personal. Other hand laid fibreglass luggage costs a third the price, but again aesthetics come into play.

As far as I'm concerned I go for FUNCTION before form. For the price of Beetles I can have 8 sets of Shad (who make the OEM Beemer panniers). They're repairable as you can buy spares. Sure they're ABS - but by the time it cracks - it's probable that I'll either have a different bike OR I simply buy another set - and I'm still in pocket.

Will a beetle take a full face lid? - NO. So it's not even on my list.

Corbin management and customer service proved to be a bunch of arrogant, clueless bastards. I refused delivery of the bags that I ordered from them; based upon that, and also based upon the current poor quality of them that I discovered later; after I placed the order.

RE Corbin Bags

Does anyone know if they will fit the Roadsters? Corbin does not list a fitment for the Rockets past 2009.

I'm not sure about the quality either. My beetles were on the bike when I bought it. They had already been repaired on the inside where the top two mounting bolts must have pulled through. They were flopping again when I got it. I glassed in some big washers from the outside and so far no more problems. Had I paid the $1800.00 (at that time) for them I would have been seriously pissed.

I think they would but the only thing I see that might be a problem is muffler clearance. They are some pretty big cans on the end of the Roadster!!!!
