Are these 440 better than the stock R3 shocks? In which way? I have a set on the Valkyrie and they feel fine. They are 12.5 just like the R3. Could exchange them just for kicks. What do you think?

Also, there are two kind of shocks for the R3. Standard and touring/soft. Is that so?

re shoxs 440,s
i havnt had time to adjust the 440,s yet,i will adjust them as soon as i have the time, but if there too soft for me i might see if hyperpro springs fit the shox.
all my other bikes had them fitted and were not too bad.

No adjustment. I have a set on my Valkie They are nice. Match the bike's application well. Was thinking to transfer them to the R3.

440's (out of production?) and now improved 444's are heaps better and your Valkyrie ones should be adjustable for preload with the top threaded adjustment without steps so you have to carefully ensure you have them at the same number of turns from minimum preload.

The Valkyrie one you have should fit the Rocket as the same 444 versions fit both too. Progressive Cruiser Shocks 13.0" Chrome 444-4221C | eBay

There have been different factory rear shock spring rates on some Rocket models - some sources say harsher, presumably heavier springs on early ones and softer on Roadsters and Tourings. Whatever, they are all woeful compared to quality aftermarket ones with the correct spring rate for you weight/% usage with pillion / luggage etc.

do the uk have dealers for the heavier springs ?

They do not appear to have UK dealers but do have French, German and Dutch ones:

Thank you for the info. I appreciate it. Have not tried to adjust mine. Certainly will. Probably they will go on the R3. The stock R3 are kind'a harsh for my 60+ skeleton. The 440 keep the tire on the road gently.
