So... it was 79F today. Went for a canyon ride for lunch. Took a long ride through the mountains with @jpool and another buddy on a Ducati last weekend, 65F and snow on the sides of the roads, beautiful scenery!

Zat you with the hair on the wrong end of your face?  :p
PS: FUVM and your good riding weather! :sneaky:

Don't get me wrong, Jag. It is just another storm for me but I have two newbie neighbors to assist if needed, one moved back from TX and has a disabled wife, the other's an airline pilot that's supposed come into Newark
around midnight tonite from Atlanta plus one other elderly, widowed neighbor and a disabled (9/11-WTC) friend nearby that I'm always on standby for, so I've got to be staged for whatever comes. I actually enjoy a good storm so long as they don't become SNAFUs.:)

It is rare anymore that we find people so willing to help take care of their fellow man. Blessings to you sir. I hope that you Yankee brothers/sisters are protected during this storm by your guardian angels working overtime. Per the news there have been 5 deaths already, so seriously, our prayers for the safety of all in this winter storm.

It really is worth the effort to be a good neighbor, a good friend, a good citizen...

Thank you for the blessings for something I do as a matter of course. I was raised to believe it is my duty as a human being to adhere to The Golden Rule.

Yep, you sure deserve a major league hiatus from that Winter of The White Death. I remember how you went way above and beyond the call of duty to assist and shelter a bunch of your neighbors, too, Rick. You took the relentless punishment dealt by Mother Nature so well last year that we're only gonna' send you a couple inches or so this time around.

We have at least 18 inches of snow thus far. The blizzard should hit us anytime now according to the news... Poor Brahma...

Well, the more esoteric weather models got it right this time. The NWS issued a Blizzard advisory about 90 minutes ago for our county and the one adjacent to us. I estimate that we have 12-14"+ on the ground with drifts here and there of 2-3'. The predicted storm total has been raised from 8-12" 18 hrs ago, to 12-18" 12 hrs ago and now we're expecting 22-30" with drifts up to 6' tall with winds gusting up into the 35-40 mph range. Some of our neighbors are going full Donner Party on us, contemplating eating their pets, if necessary.

Time to get out there and make my first cut with our trusty Honda snowblower. Gotta' stay ahead of a beast like this or the accumulations become very difficult to deal with.

Here's an awesome shot of Jonas as seen from the Int'l Space Station and shot by Scott Kelley, from my hometown of West Orange, NJ. Photo is of Chicago below looking eastward to the Atlantic coast in the distance:

Over 24" here so far, 18 degrees with a wind chill of about 0! expecting another 2-4" before this bastard storm releases us.
