Why is coolant coming from the overflow pipe

300km to day and no problems, it was a reasonably hot day too. I think when I took the radiator cap off to clean it was not turned all the way on which would mean the right pressure may not have been on the reliefe valve. I thnk this because the lock bolt in the cap seems to be further forward than when I loosened it to take the cap off.

Cap failures seem to be a pretty common issue. I carry a new one in a saddlebag, that way mine will never fail.

If you're talking about the overflow tube under the bike, this happened to me 7 years ago and the problem was the radiator cap. if it doesn't vent properly, you get vapor lock and when it cools down, liquid spurts into the line.

All the evidence points to the cap, the coolant does not start to come out of the overflow pipe at back of the motor until a few minutes after turning the motor off.
