Who has CES Exhaust?

If you do much hard riding of a night you will notice CES glow red to the collector, the original pipes did the same thing behind the heat shields if you happen to look down when riding at night.

Have never noticed that and I shall be on the look out!

My question is if the aftermarket pipes run that hot, what happens if you are wearing a cold weather suit. Is it practical or would you end up with a melt down?

thing king,i saw that set up previously and wondered if it retained the inner shields and all that triumph uses .i have the silver powder coat and think that's the best set up yet.i will copy your idea as soon as I get my trans sorted out

If nylon or plastic wet weather gear touch your pipes and you haven't got heat shields it's going to be a melted mess. Burnt a hole in denim jeans when I was a bit careless sitting at the lights. An elderly gentleman that was checking out my bike said that my pipes looked dangerous, that's another thing I like about them.

Yes my stock header pipes glowed cherry red and could be seen easily at night under the heat shields BEFORE I added my Dobeck Performance AFR Plus. You see when your Air Fuel Ratio is set as far to lean as it is from the factory, your exhaust gas temperatures will be much higher than they should be and cause your header to glow. We need to have our AFR set correctly to a richer AFR number. I have mine set at 14.2:1 for my general cruising and set at 12.5:1 for WOT and hard acceleration. My header pipes run cooler and always look like the normal steel. As a benefit I never feel the high heat as many complain about.

There is no inner shield down there, it's actually a very simple hack. But the clamp had to be cut and replaced, it was a bit of fiddling to mount. Part #T2209830.

You may have explained why I have NOT seen mine glow in the dark.
I keep mine dyno-tuned up from Nels at 2 wheel Dyno Works and tis definitely NOT run lean!

I wear a leather leggin with heat resisting panel.
it wraps around my right leg, ankle to knee and protects my textile or jean pants.
Works VERY WELL!

Paul, for the original poster's benefit, could you please post up some examples of your R3 exhaust systems. IMO, they are the bee's knees.:thumbsup:

Hi Phil, as requested.

@Paul Bryant,
1) Would you mind doing a pix from the front and rear that show an idea of how far outboard they protrude?
2) Where can I see a price list?
