2022 Rocket 3 R
I have a 2022 Black Rocket 3 R with 45,000 miles on it. I’m averaging 35,000 miles per year. The bike has been trouble free and I am not lusting after anything new. Because of the mileage, I have started to think about the lifespan of the bike and its value when/if I decide to trade it in for something else.

Would it be more financially prudent to keep the bike for as long as I continue to enjoy riding it, mileage be ****ed, or does there come a point where it makes more sense to sell it and get another new bike?

Another option I have considered is to get a second used bike, probably a sport tourer, and rack up some of my miles on it. I make the occasional multi-day trip and one multi-week trip during the summer. I enjoy riding the Rocket on these long trips, but it would be nice to have more storage.

Recent used car market insanity aside, all vehicles depreciate. The rate of depreciation slows over time and mileage. The steepest depreciation occurs the moment you drive/ride off the lot. Over the same amount of time, a newer vehicle will lose more value than an older vehicle. Whenever you sell a vehicle and buy a new one, you lose more value over the following months/years than you would have by keeping the one you had.

For one reason or another there seems to be an abundance of used extremely low km R3's for sale, in Australia anyway.
I was concerned, when looking to buy one, as to why they were being sold so early. As it turns out, it wasn't to do with any bad design or engineering issues but more owner lifestyle/choices.
With competition from so many low km bikes, your example would have to be accordingly cheap to be considered by any prospective buyers.
Unless you are desperate to sell or willing to take a big loss, I would hang on to her and keep up with the maintenance. You obviously enjoy riding her and she has not let you down yet. Stick with what you know and reap the rewards of an excellent choice of bike.
