When Did The Tranny Probs End?

I'm in the market for a pre-2010 Rocket because I need the feet-forward controls. I've read many posts about transmission problems in the Rockets. In which year did the inordinate number of transmission problems end? I realize that no bike is perfect and that Rockets are a fine bike but I want to avoid buying a big headache, if I can.

You can always go with a newer rocket touring model, they all have the forward controls. Downside is they are tuned for less HP but that can be overridden, and they will always have a smaller rear tire due to space, so slightly less traction, but easier burn outs if you want a glass-half-full perception.

The short answer is early 2008. There is a serial number after which all of the upgrades were incorporated. Try a search.

Thank you. According to a post on the other R3 forum, one should feel safer from a transmission standpoint by buying engines with serial numbers after 337294.
