The ignition switch on my '06 Rocket III Classic has crapped out for the third time. Yesterday I installed a Digital Guard Dawg keyless ignition. I am at the "manual" testing phase in the installation instructions. I only get electrical power when I hold the FOB/remote control against the black box with the brains of the unit and press the FOB button. Then I do get everything powered up and the bike starts and runs. I emailed the support people yesterday for help but no reply yet. Hopefully they have a solution that will allow me to move onto the "automatic mode" testing which is supposed to automatically turn everything on when I get near the bike with the FOB in my pocket and then all I'd need to do is press the start button.

PS I put fresh 2032 batteries(takes two) in the FOB hoping the batteries that came in the FOB were too weak but fresh batteries haven't helped.
Ive seen @Nashvegas put that fob beside his even on new one, but decosse one turns on 10 ft away?

Years ago I had DeCosse's keyless unit and it worked great most of the time but I had to remove it. My Rocket would go dead briefly when riding through several different areas in San Diego County. For example when riding past the Miramar Naval Air Station I would lose power or when riding near San Diego Bay where aircraft carriers and a submarines are located. We theorized that these areas were jam packed with too much radio wave interference. It was always just a few seconds of electrical power loss and I learned to quickly pull in the clutch and hit the starter to restart the bike and keep going but it became too unnerving when losing power in heavy traffic so I removed it. Hope the Guard Dawg unit isn't going to have the same problem, otherwise I'll have to ride my Harley when I need to go near Naval facilities.

I got crazy this spring. I had fuel issues so I replaced all of the fuel tank consumable internals (rubber, filters, pump, ) and while I was doing that I decided to replace my valve cover gasket because of a small leak on a corner. I put Samco hoses on the cooling system and replaced the coolant with Evans waterless coolant and I mounted an overflow tank I got from Mitzy quite a while back. Then the basic balance throttle bodies, changed plugs, oil and filter change, flush the brake system and put in fresh fluid and cleaned up the RamAir filter that is still doing just fine after 10 years or so. I may have missed remembering a thing or two but it is ready for another 10-12 years even if I am not. ;)

Update: I had forgotten to try using the second Key FOB that came with The Guard Dawg(they call it an, "RFID TAG"). When I did try the second "TAG" remote unit everything worked as designed in both manual and automatic mode. That made me think the first FOB/TAG I tried, that only worked when pressed against the black brain box, must be faulty. Well, I don't know why I bothered trying that FOB again but I did and it worked just fine when standing a few feet away from the bike. Why that first FOB began working as designed is a mystery. Time will tell which FOB mode I will use most often, manual where I need to press the FOB's button to get electric power or automatic where I can just have the FOB in my pocket and when within 25-30 feet of the bike, it "energizes" all the bike's electrics.
