What grade full Synthetic Oil? Amsoil 10W40 vs 20W50

Amsoil calls for 20W50 for the Rocket III. They don't make a 15W50 grade. It's either the 20W50 or the 10W40. I choose 20W50 even though I ran 10W40 in a whole bunch of other bikes I used to own.

The spec for our bikes is any synthetic (or semi) oil that has an API SG (or better) and a JASO MA rating. Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 full synthetic meets these requirements and is highly recommended on almost all motorcycle forums for wet clutch, combined engine/trans use. Many positive testimonials from BMW, Honda, Suzuki, and Triumph. This is the best bang for the buck and it's cheap.

Regarding 10W-40 or 20W-50, it depends on the temperature you typically drive in. Since none of us usually drive in freezing temps, the lower number isn't an issue. The upper number is. For real hot temps, use the 50 weight. Lower use 40 weight. 5W-40 will suit most of us fine.

Oh, one word of caution, Mobil 1 20W-50 VTwin appears to no longer have a JASO MA rating. The Mobil 1 4T 10W-40 still does on the bottle but not the website. http://www.mobil.com/Canada-English/Lubes/PDS/IOCAENPVLMOMobil_1_Motorcycle_Oils.aspx

Phil and Gregger are right. Rosella is the way to go. Used it in the Valk and now in the Rocket.

It has been said that the Rotella is adequate for a stock motor, but if you have upgraded pistons, cams or valves it is deficient in zinc and another key lubricating component. Warp or IMFASTTOO have the G2 on that issue.

There is only MObil 1 Racing 4T - 0W40 available here locally, should i use it ??? The Lowest temperature at any point of the year is 18-20 Deg celsius and the highest is 35- 38 Deg celsius.

Any suggestions pls. I have to import 10W40 or 15W50 and they are not available locally.

I put Fuchs Silkolene Super 4 Semisynthetic in mine on the weekend , will be changing in at 4-5000 klm , see how it's holding up then.
