What options are available to upgrade the rear suspension on a 2006 classic? I'm going to guess the newer 2,5s have better shocks ? .. I'm old school and parshall to an ohlin myself is there something they used to do that can be used ? I have a few VMax gen1s with ohlins but they are very "skinny" compared to the stock R3 so obviously need something more meaty 😉

Progressive rear shocks and progressive front fork springs and the best option there is. High quality and not going to brake the bank. There are a few variations. Higher the number the more HD they are. They have a fitment guide.

How much (roughly? And where can I get some ?

The 412s HD are sub $300 and more than adequate. The 444 are $$$ as they double the load rating from your stock rocket 1st and 2nd gens for 2 up riding.
I'm a big guy and I have had big girls on the back on the stock suspension. No need to go overkill

I'm a short arse and don't weigh all that much, use the bike every day and live in a backwater swamp in the middle of nowhere the roads are ****e so I get bounced all over the shop lol Ive put 10w in the front instead of the recommended 5w and the slight difference I feel is perfect but I personally feel the rear is a little soft its not anything I can't put up with but after 15 years id like to tweek it as much as I can to fit my riding and personal preference so 300 quid is perfect really I kinda had that as a cut off price in my head anyway.

Thanks.

Have you tried adjusting the preload on the rear shocks because they can be to me anyway very stiff. They are set on 1 of 5 adjustments from the factory which is the softest.
